Hello SMB Deal Hunters!

I’m excited to share 5 new deals worth checking out.

Starting today, I’ll also be sharing links to the best SMB content I come across on Twitter. Please let me know if you enjoy this addition to the newsletter!

Today’s issue is sponsored by Acquire.com, the largest startup acquisition marketplace for profitable Internet businesses.

1/ Two Location Medical Spa Practice

📍 Location: Santa Barbara, CA
💰 Asking Price: $2,000,000
💼 Cash Flow: $826,932
📊 Revenue: $2,270,000
📅 Established: N/A

💭 My 2 Cents: If you saw my tweet from a few months ago titled “Is Botox the new Bitcoin?” you know I’m bullish on medspas. While medspas are often trading at a premium from all the investor demand, I came across this two-location medspa in SB that is selling for 2.4x EBITDA. I love how high margin this business is (over 35% EBITDA margins!) and the reason for the sale (retirement). Medspas tend to come with a lot of repeat revenue because services often require regular maintenance (i.e. Botox and fillers require periodic touchups).

2/ Commercial & Residential Lawn Care Company

📍 Location: Key West, FL
💰 Asking Price: $1,500,000
💼 Cash Flow: $559,700
📊 Revenue: $1,499,868
📅 Established: 2008

💭 My 2 Cents: This 15-year-old lawn care company in Key West derives nearly 100% (!!) of its revenue from recurring weekly lawn services to residential, commercial, and local government properties. The nice thing about the location being in Florida is the lack of seasonality in lawn care. Two growth opportunities: 1) offering additional services like landscaping and irrigation, and 2) expanding the service area. Bonus: This business is pre-qualified for SBA financing.

3/ Top Senior Care Franchise Location

📍 Location: Waukesha County, WI
💰 Asking Price: $6,750,000
💼 Cash Flow: $1,589,487
📊 Revenue: $4,121,895
📅 Established: 2015

💭 My 2 Cents: This home care franchise sends caregivers to homes to help seniors with daily life activities (i.e. food prep, light cleaning, grocery shopping). At-home care is booming, and for good reason: Seniors find it to be more comfortable, convenient, and personalized compared to assisted living facilities. The EBITDA margins of this business are significantly higher than the industry average because of lucrative government contracts and smart operations, both of which I’d want to dig into.

In Partnership With Acquire.com
Here’s My Secret Weapon for Finding Profitable Internet Businesses

Reviewing new deals on the Acquire.com platform is part of my weekly deal sourcing workflow (and it should be part of yours too).

Acquire.com is the largest marketplace of vetted internet businesses for sale, including SaaS businesses, agencies, e-Commerce stores, mobile apps, and even Shopify apps.

What I like about Acquire.com is that many of the deals are listed by sellers themselves without a broker.

While joining is free, I’ve personally been subscribed to the Platinum plan for well over a year now, which gives me access to larger deals with over $250,000 in TTM revenue (like this $1.1 million EBITDA DTC subscription box that I featured in last Thursday’s issue).

4/ Profitable Central Kentucky Pallet Business

📍 Location: Lexington, KY
💰 Asking Price: $1,600,000
💼 Cash Flow: $582,456
📊 Revenue: $1,817,085
📅 Established: N/A

💭 My 2 Cents: I passed on sharing a business a couple of weeks ago with you guys that specialized in pallet brokerage because the margins were just too low. But yesterday I came across this Kentucky-based business that also operates in the pallet industry with 32% EBITDA margins! This business purchases, fixes, and sells pallets. Clearly, this is clearly where the money is! The location is prime (Kentucky is a big logistics hub). Plus, the owner is looking to retire and is open to seller financing.

5/ SBA Pre-Qualified Antique Furniture Business

📍 Location: New Orleans, LA
💰 Asking Price: $2,000,000
💼 Cash Flow: $947,306
📊 Revenue: $2,097,947
📅 Established: 2000

💭 My 2 Cents: The 42% net profit margins on this antique furniture business caught my eye, but when I saw the asking price was only around 2x EBITDA I knew it was too good not to share. Their products are obtained from a supplier in the Netherlands and are sourced from regions all over Europe, including France, England, Belgium, Italy, and Greece. The business is 75% retail (selling to consumers through their brick-and-mortar storefront in New Orleans) and 25% wholesale. The returns are under 1%, which speaks to the quality of the products. I think there’s an interesting growth opportunity to expand beyond New Orleans via e-Commerce both DTC and through marketplaces like Wayfair, especially given the $1000 AOV which leaves room for paid advertising.
